Care Packages

 

HUGS FOR SOLDIERS sends care packages year round filled with snacks, personal care, hand-made items, cards and letters of appreciation to service members deployed overseas.  Our mission is to lift the spirits of our Active Duty and Veteran communities.  All donated items must have a shelf life/expiration date of at least 6 months from the date of our receipt.

 

Wish List Items

No aerosol or items under pressure

No pork or pork by-products.

Pack liquids in Ziploc bags in case of leakage.

Keep all food items in original manufacturer's packaging.

Homemade food items cannot be accepted.

DO NOT pack food with personal care items.  Food will absorb perfumed items especially bar soap.

 

Personal Care Items:

• Chapstick

• Shampoo/Conditioner (travel size)

• Deodorant - Men and Women

• Toothpaste (travel size); toothbrush, dental floss

• Mouthwash (travel size)

• Body Wash

• Hand Sanitizer (travel size)

• Lotion (travel size)

• Razors, shaving cream (in tubes) no aerosol

• Travel size tissues

• Baby Wipes

• Q-Tips

• Feminine Products

• Hand & Foot Warmers during winter months

 

 

 

Food Items:

• Individually wrapped snacks such as nuts, trail mix, peanut butter/cheese crackers

• Hard Candy

• Chewing Gum

• Individual servings of powdered drinks for water bottles such as Lemonade, Gatorade

• Beef Jerky, Slim Jims (no pork allowed)

• Nutri-grain, granola or cereal bars

• Tuna in water-packed pouches (variety of flavors

• Ground coffee

• Chocolate between the months of October and March only

SHIPPING TIPS:

• Please use the most economical method from your location based on weight and size of package.

• Use a durable box and size according to the number of donations you are sending.  Do not use a large box and only fill it halfway.  The items will get damaged and the box arrives to us crushed on top.  Make sure your items are secure and packed well.  

• To protect your items in the event of box damage during transit, we suggest you enclose the contents in Ziploc  bags.
