♥ Hearts and Hugs ♥
Every February, loved ones exchange flowers, candy and cards, but for troops serving overseas, who are separated from the ones they love, Valentine's Day can be hard. Hugs for Soldiers would like to connect hearts at home with hearts overseas by sending HUGS through Valentine cards to our deployed service members to let them know how much they are appreciated.
Guidelines for Cards
♥ Cards may be purchased or handmade. Envelopes are not necessary, but if you do use them, please leave unsealed for security purposes. Do not glue glitter on Valentines as it does not travel well over a two-week shipping time. Foam glitter stickers are fine to use. Please keep your Valentines to a size of 8 1/2" x 11" or under for ease in packing and shipping.
♥ Military personnel love to communicate with us! You can include your school or organization name, address and/or adult email contact on each card. Cards from children can include a first name.
♥ Photos of the sender, sender's family, church, or classroom participants can add a personal touch to your card.
♥ Keep your messages positive! We check each card before it is shipped overseas.
If you are mailing a large quantity of cards, please bundle them and place them in large mailing envelopes or flat rate postal shipping boxes. Each card does not need its own envelope.
This is a great community project -- email us pictures of how this project brought you so much happiness to those who deserve to be remembered. We will post on our website and Facebook page. Thank you!
Deadline for receiving cards: Friday, January 31, 2014.
Cards will be shipped to the troops February 3 as it takes 10-14 days for mail to arrive overseas.
