While we are enjoying summer outdoor activities and going on vacation, our service members in the Middle East are suffering through extreme heat in the summer months when daily temperatures can exceed 100 degrees by 9:00 AM.  They are in fairly remote locations without a U.S. PX or other amenities and many do not have the ability to purchase more items when needed.   

 

Hugs for Soldiers is collecting items through July 31 requested by our troops.  Donated items will be packed and shipped overseas as soon as we receive them.  When a service member is deployed, anything they receive from home is greatly appreciated.

 

Wish list items for male and female troops:

 

• Sunscreen/after sun (lotion & pump spray) -- NO AEROSOLS

• Socks – (no tube socks)

• Cooling Towels

• Personal care items (small, travel-size containers whenever possible) -- deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrush, shampoo/conditioner, body wash, wet wipes, female hygiene products, foot powder

• Snacks:  granola/protein bars, beef jerky, nuts/trail mix (single serve), tuna pouch/tuna salad kit with crackers, chicken salad kit with crackers

• Powered drink mixes (single serve), coffee, tea bags

• Gum

• Candy (no chocolate)

• Hand Fans or small Personal Portable Fans

• Letters and cards of thanks for the sacrifices they are making for us.

• Help us ship care packages overseas by making a donation.  It costs about $25 to send one care package.  Every donation helps!
